This past year's trip to Kathmandu, Nepal was one of the most impactful yet. Our team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and volunteers came together with the shared purpose of providing life-changing surgeries for children and families who could not otherwise afford care. I was especially honored to be joined by my mentor, Dr. John Herzenberg, one of the most respected pediatric surgeons in the world, as well as my dear friend from Canada, Dr. Marie Gdalevitch. As always, my wife -- who has been a constant part of these missions every year -- was by my side.
Together, we screened nearly 200 patients who traveled from villages and mountainous regions all across Nepal. We operated on 37 patients, the majority of them children. Beyond the operating rooms, we delivered essential medical equipment, shared knowledge with local doctors, and continued to strengthen partnerships with Nepal Orthopedic Hospital. The mission was not just about surgery-- it was about bringing hope, education, and support to a community that welcomed us with open arms. From the long days in the hospital to evenings sharing meals and stories, the trip reminded us of the power of service, teamwork, and compassion.
